January 18th - March 1st, 2026
The Journey program consists of daily readings, weekly small groups (available on different days and times), and Sunday Services.
The first shift on your journey of spiritual growth is becoming aware that seeking to control the world around you does not bring inner happiness or peace. Notice the conflict that arises within you
We want to become more loving people and experience connection. But the journey toward love seems to be filled with rules and even calculated self-interest. We'll look at how the Lord carefully guides us in ways we wouldn't think of as good, toward the love and compassion we hope for.
The second shift on your journey of spiritual growth is becoming more aware that we have more to learn about ourselves, and the Lord meets us where we are to lead us.
Like Jacob, we can't do much without the Lord. As we struggle to learn what is right, we naturally cling to what we know. However, the Lord has another path to show us, one leading higher than we can comprehend.
The third shift on your journey of spiritual growth is shifting your focus away from concerns centred on people, places, and time and focusing instead on expressing heavenly qualities of love, understanding, compassion and trust.
Change is hard, hard enough that we don't make it if we aren't motivated in the right way. When we can find a way to have our inner heart kindled, we'll find that we can become the person we want to be, and it will seem relatively easy.
The fourth shift on your journey of spiritual growth is shifting your expectation of a desired outcome. Spiritual development involves engaging in a process, not wanting a specific destination, or achieving a goal.
When we look to make a change, we are often inspired toward something great, an ideal or virtue that we want to embody. However, when we try to achieve it, we quickly realize that our lives won't just suddenly become the highlight reel we imagined. If we want to achieve that ideal, it starts in the mundane, as we make small changes to our everyday life, rather than big sweeping revolutions.
The fifth shift on your journey of spiritual growth is recognizing that the state you are in does not bring happiness and peace. With that recognition comes a motivation to love, think, and do differently.
We spend a lot of time getting the job done, recognizing that we are trying to do the right thing with mixed motives. At some point, we come to a place of needing to move on to a better way of thinking about living. The path that leads to that is different from what we may think.
The sixth shift on your journey of spiritual growth is a growing sense of trust and confidence in the Lord, that He is with you, teaching and guiding you through the struggles of life.
When we walk away from bad motives, we might feel alone and unsupported. In those moments of attack, we have one choice: trust in the Lord.
The seventh shift on your journey of spiritual growth is a change of heart. You come to value and appreciate shifting and changing your ways. You become less defensive and less blind to the traits that keep you trapped in fear, loneliness, and criticism. You come to appreciate the spiritual growth journey and willingly return over and over to it.
