WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO “MEET” THE LORD?
New Church teachings describe this recognition of the Lord as the beginning of a deeper spiritual relationship with Him.
“When they acknowledge Him as their God, Creator, Redeemer, and Savior, this is His first coming... From this time the person begins to have their understanding enlightened as regards spiritual matters, and to advance to more and more inward wisdom.”

LET THE LORD IN
The Lord is with you, and always has been. Meeting the Lord is about recognizing Him and welcoming Him into your life. The Lord would never remove our freedom, and so He does not force His way in, even though He wishes nothing more than for us to grow closer to Him. Instead, He gives us the choice to welcome Him in. "Behold I stand at the door and knock." The Lord can bring us the utmost happiness in this world and the next, but He lets us choose whether or not welcome Him and His gifts into our lives.
"The Lord is perpetually present with every person, wicked as well as good, for no one could live without His presence. But His coming is restricted to those who receive Him, and these are those who believe in Him and keep His commandments."

THE LORDS COMING
The Lord comes into our life when we believe in Him and follow Him. It is the combination of faith and action that truly brings His presence. If we simply believe in Him, then He remains only at the level of our mind. On the other hand if we were to follow His words without belief, then we would not bring His presence, because our actions were determined by our belief in something else.
